Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using QuickTube ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to these Terms of Service, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

QuickTube provides a web-based application that allows users to:

• Fetch and view transcripts from YouTube videos
• Generate AI-powered summaries of video content
• Identify speakers and characters in videos using AI
• Find and watch the best moments/highlights from videos
• Download videos and highlight compilations
• Share video analyses with others via shareable links
• Save and access video session history
• Batch process multiple videos simultaneously
• Create public user profiles to showcase analyzed videos
• Follow other users and discover their public video analyses

3. User Accounts

To access certain features of the Service, you may create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Maintain the security of your password and account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Credits and Payments

QuickTube uses a credit-based system for AI-powered features:

• New users receive a signup bonus of free credits
• AI features (summaries, character detection, highlights) consume credits
• Additional credits can be purchased through the Service via Stripe
• Credits are non-refundable and non-transferable
• Unused credits do not expire

Referral Program: Users can earn bonus credits by referring friends to QuickTube. When a referred user signs up using your referral link, both you and the new user receive bonus credits. Referral credits are subject to verification and may be revoked if abuse is detected.

Anonymous Users: Users without an account receive a limited number of free AI generations (tracked by IP address). After reaching this limit, account registration is required.

5. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms
• Not use the Service to infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others
• Not download or process content that you do not have permission to access
• Respect YouTube's Terms of Service and copyright policies
• Not attempt to overwhelm or disrupt the Service infrastructure
• Not circumvent usage limits or credit requirements
• Not share or misuse API keys generated for your account

6. Intellectual Property

The Service retrieves publicly available transcripts from YouTube. You acknowledge that:

• All content retrieved belongs to its original copyright holders
• You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to access and use retrieved content
• QuickTube does not claim ownership of any user-generated content or retrieved transcripts
• The QuickTube application code and interface are proprietary
• AI-generated content (summaries, analyses) is provided for personal use

7. Shareable Content and User Profiles

When you create shareable links for video analyses:

• The shared content becomes publicly accessible via the share link
• You are responsible for the content you choose to share
• You can delete shared content at any time from your account
• We may remove shared content that violates these terms

User Profiles: You may create a public profile that displays:

• Your username, display name, and optional bio
• Videos you have marked as public
• Your follower and following counts

You are responsible for the information you include in your profile. You may follow other users and they may follow you. You can control which videos appear on your public profile.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party APIs and services including:

• YouTube API for transcript retrieval and video embedding
• AI services (OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter) for content analysis
• Stripe for secure payment processing
• Proxy services for reliable video access

Use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service. QuickTube is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of third-party services.

9. Video Downloads

The video download feature is provided for personal, non-commercial use only. You agree that:

• You will only download videos that you have permission to access and download
• You will comply with all applicable copyright laws and YouTube's Terms of Service
• Downloaded content is for personal use and not for redistribution
• Video processing occurs in your browser using WebAssembly technology
• QuickTube is not responsible for how you use downloaded content

10. API Access

Registered users may generate API keys for programmatic access to the Service:

• API keys are tied to your account and consume your credits
• You are responsible for keeping your API keys secure
• API access is subject to rate limits and fair use policies
• We may revoke API keys that are misused or shared

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement
• Accuracy, completeness, or reliability of transcripts or AI-generated content
• Uninterrupted or error-free service operation
• Security of data transmission

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, QUICKTUBE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Loss of profits, data, use, or other intangible losses
• Damages resulting from unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data
• Statements or conduct of any third party on the Service
• Any issues related to third-party APIs or services

13. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to breach of these Terms. Upon termination:

• Your right to use the Service will immediately cease
• Any unused credits will be forfeited
• Your account data may be deleted

14. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the service operator is located, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
