QuickTube ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email Address: Used for account authentication and communication
  • Username: Your chosen display name
  • Password: Securely hashed and stored (we never store plain text passwords)

2.2 Usage Data

We collect information about how you use the Service:

  • Video Sessions: YouTube video IDs you process, transcripts, and AI-generated content
  • Credit Transactions: History of credit purchases and usage
  • Shared Content: Videos you choose to share publicly
  • API Keys: Keys you generate for programmatic access (hashed for security)
  • Profile Information: Display name, bio, and public/private video preferences
  • Social Data: Users you follow and users who follow you
  • Referral Data: Your referral code and referral activity

2.3 Anonymous Usage Tracking

For users without accounts, we collect:

  • IP Address: Used to track free AI generation limits
  • Usage Count: Number of free AI generations used

2.4 Automatically Collected Information

When you access the Service, we may automatically collect:

  • Log Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and pages visited
  • Device Information: Device type, screen resolution, and language preferences
  • Analytics: Page views, feature usage, and interaction patterns

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for:

  • Service Delivery: To provide transcripts, AI summaries, and other features

4. Data Storage and Retention

4.1 What We Store

  • Account Data: Stored until you delete your account
  • Video Sessions: Your session history is retained for your convenience
  • Shared Videos: Stored until you delete them or your account
  • Credit History: Transaction records are retained for accounting purposes
  • Profile Data: Your public profile information and follower relationships
  • Referral Data: Referral codes and successful referral records
  • Anonymous Usage: IP-based tracking data for free tier limits

4.2 What We Don't Store

  • Downloaded video files (processed in your browser)
  • Plain text passwords
  • Full API keys (only hashed versions)

4.3 Client-Side Processing

Video downloads and highlight compilation are processed entirely in your browser using WebAssembly (FFmpeg). These files are never uploaded to our servers.

5. Third-Party Services & Data Processors

The Service integrates with the following third-party data processors. Your data may be shared with these services as described below (#95):

5.1 YouTube API (Google LLC)

We use YouTube's API to fetch video transcripts and embed videos. Video IDs you process are sent to YouTube. Your use is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

5.2 OpenAI

When you use AI features (summaries, chat, Q&A), video transcript text is sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI does not use API data for model training by default. Data is processed in the USA.

5.3 Payment Processing (Cred.diy / Stripe)

Credit purchases are processed through Cred.diy, which uses Stripe as its payment processor. When you make a purchase:

  • Payment information is handled by Stripe and never stored on our servers
  • We share your email address with Cred.diy for credit account management
  • We receive only transaction confirmations and purchase amounts
  • We do not store your full payment card details
  • Stripe may store payment information per their Privacy Policy

5.4 Amazon Web Services (AWS)

All application data is hosted on AWS infrastructure in the us-east-1 region (N. Virginia). This includes databases, file storage (S3), and application servers. AWS is SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified.

5.5 Sentry (Error Monitoring)

We use Sentry to monitor application errors. Error events may include anonymized user identifiers and technical stack traces. No personal content (transcripts, chat) is sent to Sentry.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We use the following technologies:

  • Authentication Tokens: Stored in local storage to keep you logged in
  • Session Data: To maintain your session during use
  • Preferences: Your settings and UI preferences

You can clear this data by logging out or clearing your browser storage.

7. Data Security

We implement security measures to protect your information:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
  • Password hashing using industry-standard algorithms
  • JWT-based authentication with secure token handling
  • API key hashing (we don't store your full API keys)
  • Regular security reviews and updates

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

8. Your Privacy Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: View all data associated with your account
  • Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export: Request a copy of your data
  • Correction: Update your account information
  • Opt-Out: Delete shared videos or revoke API keys at any time
  • Profile Control: Make your profile private, remove followers, or hide specific videos

9. Children's Privacy

QuickTube is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

10. International Users

If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located. Data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to know what personal information is collected
  • Right to know whether personal information is sold or disclosed
  • Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information
  • Right to deletion of personal information
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising CCPA rights

Note: We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
